Anna Panek

Born 1977, painter and architect, graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the Wroclaw University of Technology and the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, finalist of the Samsung Art Master competition. She creates paintings, murals, installations related to architecture. In her artistic activities both fields of art are juxtaposed, and sometimes opposed to each other. For Panek, architecture is a frame, disciplined, culturally defined form, while painting is primitive and wild, it belongs to the natural order. It can freely spread, annex, obliterate or transform physical structures. Multi-color, sensuality, movement, accumulation, overgrowing of space are important features of her artistic practice.

Her works have been exhibited at the Arsenal Gallery in Bialystok, the CCA Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw, the Zachęta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw, the National Museum in Gdańsk, the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw. The artist’s works can be found in the collections of the Polish Bank and the National Museum in Gdańsk, among others. She lives and works in Warsaw.
