Katya Shadkovska
Katya Shadkovska (b.1973) – artist, curator, lives and works in Warsaw, Poland and Saint-Petersburg, Russia. She studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (2001-2006), in 2009 graduated from the Curatorial Studies at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. Since 2017, PhD candidate at the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
Shadkovska engages in pro-social activities and art therapy among socially excluded and discriminated people. Since 2013, she does artistic/social work in prisons, educational centers, rehabilitation centers for addicts, centers for the intellectually excluded, organizing and providing artistic classes and workshops (projects: Integrated Participatory Activities in prisons, MONART Artistic Workshops in Monar, Art in educational centers, PAROL!, etc).
As an artist, she showed works in lokal_30, Galeria Foksal, Trafostacja in Szczecin, Center for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle, Galeria Arsenał in Poznań, NCCA in Kaliningrad, NCCA in Vladicaucaz, Sławek Foundation, etc. As a curator, she worked on exhibitions MONART Participatory Activities in Monar at the Monar-Markot Center for Neighborly Assistance at Marywilska in Warsaw, Integrated Participatory Activities in Prisons / with Dom Kultury Foundation / at lokal_30, Warsaw, Punkt bez Ja / Arsenal in Białystok, Gestykulacje / MWW Wrocław / Ceremonial in CK Krasnoye Znamja in Saint-Petersburg, Jacek Markiewicz Porno exhibition at the Sztuczna Foundation, Warsaw, David Ter-Oganyan’s exhibition at AnnaNova Gallery, Russia, Dialogues at the Krasnodar Institute of Contemporary Art, etc.
