Na wystawie zostaną zaprezentowane archiwalne materiały grup Cipedrapskuad, Sędzia Główny, Virgin$ deLuxe Edition oraz Threesome. W ich twórczości przewijają się wątki popkultury, stereotypów i ról płciowych oraz specyficzny rodzaj buntu. Artystki przeciwstawiały się m.in. patriarchalnym schematom, instytucjom sztuki zdominowanym przez mężczyzn, seksizmowi, ale nie stroniły jednocześnie od poczucia humoru, przewrotności, a nawet wulgarności. Działalność każdej z grup była długotrwałym procesem, w ramach którego artystki podejmowały gry z cielesnością, wizerunkiem, zawłaszczały kulturowe klisze przypisane płciom komentując relacje i zjawiska z tym związane. Prace powstałe w ramach tych działalności są więc jedynie dokumentacjami dłuższych procesów. Za ich pomocą spojrzymy na twórczość artystek z perspektywy przyjaźni – to ona umożliwiała tak radykalne przekraczanie konwenansów, granic tabu i wstydu. Silne emocje i bliskie relacje, jakie towarzyszą wspólnej artystycznej pracy są w przypadku tych grup katalizatorem krytycznej energii, ale często również tematem ich realizacji.

The exhibition features archival materials by the artistic groups Cipedrapskuad, Sędzia Główny, Virgin$ deLuxe Edition and Threesome. Their work combines the themes of popular culture, stereotypes and gender roles as well as manifests a particular kind of revolt. The presented female artists oppose patriarchy, male-dominated art institutions, sexism, among other issues, but at the same time employ humour, perversity, and even vulgarity. The activity of each group adopted the form of a long-term process, in which the artists engage in a game with the bodily and image, appropriating cultural clichés attributed to the sexes and commenting on the associated relations and phenomena. The works that result from their activity are therefore merely a documentation of longer processes. We use them as a prism to observe the artists’ practice from the perspective of friendship – it is friendship that enabled such a radical transgression of conventions, taboos and shame. In the case of the featured groups the strong emotions and close relations that accompany working together function as a catalyst of critical energy, but also very often provide the themes of the works.
