Christoph Draeger

 

Christoph Draeger, born 1965 in Zurich, is an internationally known conceptual artist who lives in New York and Vienna. Draeger’s projects take form in installation, video, and photo-based media to explore issues pertaining to disaster and media-saturated culture. His work has been exhibited with galleries and institutions world-wide, among others at Kunstwerke in Berlin/Germany, the 1997 Kwangju Biennial/South Korea, Centre Pompidou in Paris/ France, the 2007 Moscow Biennial/Russia, the 2002 Liverpool Biennial/UK, the Brooklyn Museum and the Whitney Museum in New York, Montevideo in Amsterdam and the Van Abbe Museum in Eindhoven. He’s had solo exhibitions at the Kunsthaus in Zurich/Switzerland and the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen/Germany, among others. Draeger’s work is in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Brooklyn Museum in New York; the Kunsthaus Zurich, Switzerland; and Centre Pompidou, Paris, France. His latest film, Hippie Movie (2008), was featured in MoMA’s Documentary Fortnight exhibition in New York in 2010. In 2011, he won the renowned “Prix de Mer” award for best exhibition at West gallery in The Hague, The Netherlands.
