Zuzanna Janin

Author of sculptures, installations, videos, photographies and performatives.
Took a part i.a.: in Sydney Biennal, Instambul Biennal, Soonsbeek, Liverpool Biennal, Fokus Lodz Biennale, 54th Venice Biennale.

The central theme of artist’s works is: the space (soft sculptures from silk – Covers), memory (instalation Memory) and time (photo-sculptures Follow Me, Change Me it’s Time, cotton-candy Sculptures / Sweet Sculptures, video-installation I’ve Seen My Death).
She is an author of Sweet Girl, sculpture from cotton-candy (show e.e. in ModernaMusset in Stockholm), and What A Hell, What A Paradise installation from artificial fog. Janin incarnates into the figures and situations and explorates the experiences making a quasi-documentation video out of it. Her video FIGHT shows a never-ending boxing mach she participates with a heavy weight box champion. In Between, para-documentary video istallation from 2005-2006 is composed from interviews exploring the childhood memories and complex relationship between people.
Very famous of her was multimedia installation I’ve Seen My Death, 2003: based on her performative simulation of her own total absence – by fictitious death and observing her selves funeral. She creates a serie Pasigraphy: series of sculptural objects made of articles of clothing, which she uses as a global / international lunguage understood all over the world. Pasigraphy, invites reflection on the arbitrariness of social roles, their fluid boundaries, and the place of individual freedom within the workings of state and society.
Pararelly from 2003 Janin has created a fictitious televiZJon_studio, ART_TALK_SHOW an art-actions which take place irregularly in lokal_30 a new gallery / art space in Warsaw.
From 2008 she works on the video installation MAJKA FROM THE MOVIE, (video serial), composed from episodes shown simultaneusly in the gallery space.
PL___Autorka obiektów i instalacji multimedialnych, fotografii, video, akcji artystycznych.
Jej sztuka ma charakter dialogu pomiędzy dopracowaną, czystą formą a emocjami, które przywołuje artystka.
W swoich pracach zajmuje się tematyką miejsca (przestrzenne instalacje Pokrowce), pamięci (projekt Moja pamięć) i czasu (nakładane fotografie z serii Idź za mną, zmień mnie, już czas). Jest autorką “rysowanych w przestrzeni” rzeźb z drutu i waty cukrowej (rzeźby Słodka dziewczyna, Słodki chłopak) oraz słynnej videoinstalcji Walka / ILoveYouToo, w której walczy na ringu w sfingowanej walce z zawodowym bokserem. W 2003 roku stworzyła projekt Widziałam swoją śmierć, polegający na symulacji nieobecności: niebytu samej artystki. Jest twórczynią fikcyjnej telewizji o sztuce studio_telewiZyJne: prowadzi ART_TALK_SHOW z ludźmi sztuki.
