Publikacja będąca katalogiem wystawy Hypothesis of the Stolen Image pokazywanej w berlińskiej galerii ŻAK I BRANICKA, stanowi jednocześnie krótki przegląd dorobku artystycznego Anny Baumgart. Jej dotychczasowej twórczości przygląda się i próbuje podsumować Bill Kouwenhoven w tekście The Uncanny and the Hypothetical In the work of Anna Baumgart. Agnieszka Rayzacher poddaje analizie rzeźby z cyklu Hypothesis of the Stolen Image, będących przeniesieniem w trzeci wymiar rozpowszechnionych fotografii dokumentalnych, przedstawiających mieszkańców Berlina Wschodniego przedzierających się na drugą stronę Muru Berlińskiego w 1961 roku. O rzeźbie, również bazującej na autentycznych historiach, lecz w sposób subwersywny i nadający symbolicznych znaczeń, stanowi tekst Ewy Tonik Das Ungleischeliebe? On Anna Baumgart’s Wojownik (The Fighter) and Bombowniczka (The Female-Bomber). Na przykładzie pracy True? (The Crane Are Flying) z 2001, Ken Pratt pisze o pracach video Anny Baumgart powstałych metodą found footage i eksplorujących zagadnienie tożsamości kulturowej kobiet. Uzupełnieniem są zawarte na końcu książki projekty performatywne Baumgart z dokumentacją i tekstami samej artystki.

The publication, which is a catalog of the Hypothesis of the Stolen Image exhibition shown in the Berlin gallery ŻAK I BRANICKA, is also a brief overview of the artistic output of Anna Baumgart. Bill Kouwenhoven looks at and tries to summarize her current work in the text The Uncanny and the Hypothetical In the work of Anna Baumgart. Agnieszka Rayzacher analyzes the sculptures from the Hypothesis of the Stolen Image series, which are the transfer to the third dimension of widespread documentary photographs depicting the inhabitants of East Berlin breaking through to the other side of the Berlin Wall in 1961. About the sculpture, also based on authentic stories, but in a subversive and symbolic way, is the text of Ewa Tonik Das Ungleischeliebe? On Anna Baumgart’s Wojownik (The Fighter) and Bombowniczka (The Female-Bomber). On the example of the work True? (The Crane Are Flying) from 2001, Ken Pratt writes about video works of Anna Baumgart created using the found footage method and exploring the issue of women’s cultural identity. At the end of the book, there are Baumgart’s performative projects with documentation and texts by the artist herself.
